Training for the pros

Players work at the gym to get stronger
They run, jump, bike, lift weights and jump rope
If athletes train hard, they can play longer
Being strong and fit gives rookies more hope

Even on the road they go to the gym
It's a busy life but they love the game
Exercise and good food keep athletes trim
Being tough puts the other team to shame

Muscles and strength help a player survive
A season of hockey is gruelling work
Good fitness and health keeps players alive
The Stanley Cup is a rewarding perk

Playing in the NHL is a young child's dream
With hard word and dedication it can happen it would seem

Offside

He skates across the red line

hoping to beat the goalies eye

but his teammate crosses the blue line at the wrong time!

And he halts as the ref shoots his hand in the sky.

New blog design

I wanted this blog to represent me so I changed the background to a famous goalie print and the title changed to The Hockey Blog. I love hockey and especially goaltending so I think it is a better fit now than when I started it.
